The Career Center is pleased to offer Cosmetology courses at the J. Everett Light campus and at our regional facilities in Pike Township (ABC), Noblesville (Kayes) and in Lebanon.
The Cosmetology program is designed to qualify students for the State Board of Beauty Culture examination, thereby providing them with the knowledge and skills to practice as cosmetologists in the state of Indiana. Activities include the theory and practice of facial massage, makeup, manicuring, sanitation, hairdressing, cutting, styling, and coloring. Students may also specialize and take a course in Clippers & Cutting, formerly known as Barbering.
To meet the requirements of 1500 hours of instruction set by the Board, students attend class a minimum of 20 hours per week. Students must be able to schedule four hours of class-time into their regular school schedule. Prior to completing 1500 required hours by the State Board of Cosmetology, our students will take the State Board licensing exam, as part of graduation requirements.
- Students are also required to do a minimum of 150 hours of Job Shadowing in a salon in the summer between the first and second years of the program.
- Students will be required to purchase their individual kit ($500), uniform (approximately $85), License Exam ($53) and License ($40 – good for 4 years).
